''Girl in a White Kimono'' ((オランダ語:Meisje in witte kimono)) is an 1894 oil painting by George Hendrik Breitner.〔(Girl in a White Kimono, George Hendrik Breitner, 1894 ), Rijksmuseum. Retrieved on 2 May 2014.〕 The subject of the painting is the sixteen-year-old Geesje Kwak, of whom Breitner made a series of photographs and paintings wearing red and white kimonos.〔 (Geesje Kwak ), Netherlands Institute for Art History, 2012. Retrieved on 2 May 2014.〕 The painting was inspired by the style of Japanese prints and is an example of Japonism.〔(Lot Notes ), Christie's.
